Kathryn Hall (K.Dexter Hall)
27 years in the work force limited her artistic endeavors, but since retirement in 2007 Kathryn Hall has made painting her focus. The pastel medium - with its rich range of hues and its tactile quality - has been a perfect fit with her inherent love of color and drawing.
Her representational work includes portrait, landscape, still life and florals. Portaiture in particular has always intrigued her as she loves the challenge of finding the little nuances of shape and shadow that define an individual’s uniqueness. Through color and contrast, the play of light and shadow, the artist’s continual goal is to capture moods and moments of beauty to share.
Honored with numerous awards including three Best of Shows since 2008, Hall has been juried into international and national shows, and was an award winner in the Pastel Journal’s 11th Pastel 100 competition in the portrait division. She is an associate member of The Pastel Society of America, The Pastel Society of the West Coast, and a signature member of The Sierra Pastel Society.
