Brief Resume: Listed in Who’s Who in American Art, Elizabeth is the 2009 Pastel Society of America Hall of Fame Honoree. She is the author of The Pastelist’s Year, The Poetic Landscape, and Landscape Meditations.
Landscape has evolved as the primary subject of my paintings and for the books that I have written simply because it is what I know best. I am intrigued by nature’s endurance and its recurring cycle. Reviewers have frequently described my work as “poetic landscape.” Much of poetic landscape is introspective; its strength emerges from what is left unexpressed. I want my paintings to transport the viewer beyond an awareness of the painted scene to a powerful sense of the place itself.
